Good morning everyone! How has everyone’s week been going? It’s been unseasonably busy around here, I’ll tell you what. In fact, we have enough going on that I wanted to write a blog post and talk about all of it. It’s not just about stuff that we’re doing, though there is some of that too– it’s also other events hosted by other special needs organizations in our community that we’d love to lift up. You might even spot us at some of them if you’re lucky! So without further ado, here’s something of a calendar for some goings-on this month and next month:
- Friday, September 15th: Tidal Wave Auto Spa 15th Annual Charity Day. On this day, every Tidal Wave Auto Spa nationwide will be donating 100% of their proceeds to Annandale Village and to another local charity in the area. For our Lawrenceville location, they’ve very graciously chosen us! For the entire day of September 15th, we’ll be hosting a table, waving signs, saying hello, and accepting donations and tips from passersby. It’s just past the corner from our location, so we’d love to see you stop by!
- Monday, October 9th: Faith & Blue Bake Sale. The weekend of Columbus Day is National Faith & Blue Weekend, a weekend where state, county, and city police departments across the country host events and build relationships with their local communities. On October 9th, the Gwinnett Police Bay Creek Precinct and Sunrise Baptist Church are hosting a bake sale at the Grayson Community Park pavilion from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. It’ll feature homemade baked goods, but we’ll be there too, sharing some of our delicious treats!
- Tuesday, October 10th: 6th Gwinnett’s Great Big Bowl-a-thon. Historically, the Bowl-a-thon has been a fun event hosted in January by the Gwinnett Mosaic Rotary Club. However, in July of this year, Gwinnett Mosaic merged with another rotary club to form the Rotary Club of North Gwinnett! So in the wake of events being shuffled around, the Gwinnett’s Great Big Bowl-a-thon is now an October event instead of January! In practice, not much has changed, and you can still register to bowl or sponsor by contacting Mike Park at [email protected] or calling (404) 247-8771. But being in October, it’s now a BOOL-a-thon! Halloween costumes are welcome and encouraged when you hit the lanes on October 10th.
- Friday, October 13th: Together We Care Back to the 80’s Dance Party. Don’t spend your next Friday the 13th scared and jam out instead! Our friends at Together We Care are hosting a dance party to raise funds and to celebrate the decade of pop and neon. All the information you need is on their own site, but to summarize, you can grab tickets for yourself or sponsor at five different levels for a late night at the Governor’s Gun Club in Kennesaw.
- Monday, October 23rd: 19th Annual Loganville Rotary Golf Tournament. The annual golf club tournament is back! Meet us and say hello bright and early at the Providence Golf Club in Monroe, and watch some high-level golf at play. As always, you can register yourself and up to three other players as a team, or sponsor a hole by emailing [email protected] or calling (404) 456-1185. It’s always a great time, so come check it out if your Monday morning is open!
- Saturday, November 4th: One Small Kick 6th Annual Kickball Tournament. Come register and play some kickball starting at 10 a.m. to support The Foundation for Prader-Willi Research! A small one, but it’s always a popular event and raises money for a good cause. We have flyers in our lobby, or you can learn more by emailing [email protected].
Phew! Yeah, it’s safe to say our calendar is pretty stuffed. And don’t worry, because while this is just a broad synopsis of the stuff happening soon, we’ll be posting more about it here and on our socials as they come closer.
…You are following our socials, are you? They’re the best way of learning about our day-to-day operations and being up to date on upcoming events. I’d highly recommend you check them out if you haven’t already. You can find links at the top and bottom of any page on this site!
That’s all for now! Have a great rest of your day and God bless you.
